I am always telling people there is no product that can outperform an unhealthy diet. Yep, even though you may be caring for your skin better than ever, those tasty holiday treats, in combination with harsh winter weather more than likely will show up in the form of blemishes, discoloration, dry and dull skin.

Help your skin this season with my winter tips and tricks to maintain that gorgeous radiant glow
  • If you allow yourself a treat or thee take time to really enjoy it, rather than beating yourself up. Often times when we indulge with guilt we are more likely to keep the cycle going, turning an indulgence into a holiday binge with good intentions for the new year. When we have intentions for drastic change in the new coming year we often fall short because the change is too great. Healthy living and lifestyle are a constant. Not something that is black and white, or gray. It is the full spectrum of color. Indulging with consciousness, as well as abstaining with purpose, because sometimes treating yourself is skipping the treats, and cheating yourself is actually the indulgence.

  • Balance your blood sugar. Everyone knows sugar is deceivingly addictive. How often has “I’ll just have one” turned into a month of your favorite treat, after months or weeks of abstinence? One treat can take us from no sugar cravings to a sudden insatiability. By taking steps to balance your blood sugar levels you leave yourself less susceptible to mindless munching of holidays cookies candies and treats. Two capfuls of apple cider vinegar with a couple ounces of warm water, a teaspoon of turmeric, and a sprinkle of pepper between 6 & 10am will not only balance your blood Suger levels but it will also combat candida, support healthy gut flora, and help your liver and kidneys gently detox, which leads to clear beautiful healthy looking skin.

  • Eat triphala before bed. Triphala works to gently eliminate toxins from your digestive system & body. It is also packed full of vitamin C to help boost your immune system. Sugar is a huge immune suppressant. A healthy immune system more than likely means you have a healthy and happy lymphatic system which also translates to healthy happy skin
  • Drink plenty of water, and even better hot water. Water works to flush toxins out of the body, and remember all that sugar means your kidneys are working overtime. Hot water is more easily absorbed by the body and more readily put to work.

  • Just say no! I know this sounds easier said than done, but there is huge gratification in renouncing unhealthy food you’ll just regret eating later. Opt for a naturally sweet treat instead.

  • If you are going to a party make or bring your own healthy version. There are plenty of naturally sweet foods that can actually increase immunity as well as your radiance. Dried dates, figs, and apricots are a few of my favorites. Apples dipped in roasted almond butter, or cooked in cinnamon ginger and cardamom are a few of our holiday favorites.

  • Incorporate lots of greens and herbs into your diet.

  • Last but definitely not least, remember what this season is all about. Try to keep stress to a minimum, do some service, and spend lots of time with people you love, and even more time laughing. There is no better medicine than love joy and laughter, especially shared with the ones you love and adore.
