It’s common knowledge that we live in a chemical culture. Everything from our food, medicine, water, and air are full of chemicals. Modern day engineering and manufacturing have made great feats and brought technology and convenient living into the lives of billions.

But there is an ugly downside to these modern day practices not many are aware of. The problem begins with manufacturing and developing on a grand scale, like in preserving shelf life in food it has become common practice to add many endocrine and body functioning disrupting chemicals and additives to cosmetics.

So what’s the big deal? Most of us do not make the connection of what we put on our bodies actually gets absorbed into the blood stream and digested just like what we put inside our bodies. The reason this is so important should seem obvious right? Our bodies are not designed to discard and or utilize foreign, laboratory made, or harsh extractions that are commonly put into our commercial foods and cosmetics.

It has become more and more common place for people to read their food labels and become more aware of what they are putting into their bodies, but we still need to address what we are putting on our bodies. This is as equally important.

Our skin is the bodies largest organ, serving as a protective barrier to the elements of our environment, riddled with bacteria referred to a our micro biome. Just like the healthy gut bacteria we have all become more and more aware of and it’s importance in health and immunity. The skins healthy and active micro biome is just as important and functional serving as a huge support for healthy resistant skin as well as aiding in our immunity and resistance to disease causing pathogens, bacteria, and viruses.

Most people are now familiar with a problem that has become quite common; people over stripping their healthy gut flora with the abuse of prescription antibiotics. The same goes for the micro biome of our skin, by constantly berating this delicate community of healthy bacteria with harsh soaps and chemicals we not only effect this precious outer layer of our largest organ, we also ingest the chemicals that are present in such beauty products.

So why does that matter? What you put on your skin is rapidly absorbed into your blood stream at an estimated 26 seconds! Incredible right? This is why essential oils are so effective and fast acting. So, lets say over the coarse of a lifetime of ingesting these chemicals, what do you think the effect is has on your other elimination organs the kidneys, liver, and lungs? These are main players in delivering life force energy throughout your body. This build up of toxins not only effects these main organs adversely but also have a huge effect on your lymphatic system, your immuno defense system as well as your endocrine system. Your endocrine system is responsible for releasing and regulating a healthy hormonal response.

When a body becomes overly toxic and unable to discard these chemicals as well as a victim to an endocrine highjack, a laundry list of problems can start to occur such as; low immunity, chronic fatigue, cancers related to the reproductive organs, liver and kidney imbalance, and surely many others we have yet to become unaware of.

The body is a complete system that is designed to work in harmony with itself. In our modern culture there is a huge disconnect between what we put in and on our bodies and our actual bodies and our quality of health.

I strongly believe that now more than even the collective consciousness is growing and becoming more aware, wanting and needing to return to the ways of our ancestors. Caring for the earth, caring for each other and caring for ourselves in a way that does not inflict or create harm. The earth has provided us with absolutely everything we need to sustain and thrive. We simply need to get out of the way, and come back to our inherent knowledge of natural living. Our bodies are incredibly resilient yet delicate. When properly supported through clean living we can all thrive, it is after al our birth right. I challenge you to become more conscious of what you willingly subject yourself to in the form of what you put on your body.

Read your beauty labels, do some research. We are so lucky to live in a technological era where information is literally at our fingertips. Choose organic, choose natural, choose cruelty free. Support small businesses that operate with humane practices and procedures. And most of all treat your body and self like the divine miracle being that it is, choosing behaviors, practices, and products that support this truth.
